Chalk Art

One of the projects for the Grade 12 Art students is to complete a chalkboard drawing for one of the elementary or high school classrooms.
Logan finished his chalkboard drawing last week and is displaying it in the math room at the high school. It is an image of a form from sacred geometry with two tetrahedrons interlocked, creating a three-dimensional star. Called the Merkabah, it often symbolizes the harmonious balance between opposing forces and the interconnectedness of things. Using a compass and pencil, he constructed the form. He then artistically shaded it in, paying attention to techniques that add depth and three-dimensional qualities, as well as utilizing complementary colours.
Victoria chose a compilation of images from art history for my upcoming block with grade nine called "History Through Art." During this block, we will study the development of human artistic expression and consciousness as we move from early human cave art through some of the ancient civilizations and Indigenous cultures to a study of various examples of religious art up to the Renaissance. Victoria researched some images of this artistic journey and chose three in her lovely composition. These beautiful art pieces complementing our studies at the high school are wonderful.
