Sock Workshop for Parents

The flyer posted in the front foyer of the school read, “Join us for cozy afternoons curled up on the couch and knit socks!“  So, that is what a group of us did – on Monday afternoons in Miss Judi’s wonderful room at the Halton Waldorf School.

Some in the group were experienced knitters and lent their support and expertise to some of us who are newer to the craft. In the quiet of the Parent and Child room, with a warm pot of herbal tea, we knitted, purled, dropped a stitch and picked up a stitch – all  under Judi’s patient and encouraging watch.

As one woman put it, “It was cozy, relaxing and welcoming!”  Help appreciatively came from other staff members as well: Birgit Fulda and Shannon Aitken – and as the end of our time together approached, a few toes got stitched up!  The group took to ringing an imaginary bell to herald the completion of a sock.
