Halton Waldorf School has the following positions open for the 2014/15 school year.

 

School Bus Driver

The Halton Waldorf School seeks a reliable, friendly, safety conscious bus driver with excellent communication skills. If you enjoy driving and working with children, this could be the job for you. Bus driving experience is preferred but not required – we are most interested in hiring dependable, caring people, who like dealing with the public and helping children, who are committed to safety and who understand the importance of following the rules. 

We provide friendly, free training for steady part-time school bus drivers. If training is necessary it will be done over the summer. 

Hours of Work:

• Approximately 7:00 AM to 8:45 AM and 3:15 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (September to June) on school days, only (exact times vary depending on individual routes).

• In many cases, there is potential for optional/additional work such as field trips during the school year and the summer. Our school bus drivers are not required to work on weekends, evenings or school holidays. While additional work may be available, it is not mandatory.

 

DUTIES

As a part-time School Bus Driver, you will be expected to:

• Safely drive students to and from school, following a prescribed route, on a daily basis during the school year.

• Perform daily vehicle circle check safety inspections, documenting & reporting according to company, school & government regulations.

• Comply with all school regulations, laws & policies.

• Communicate clearly and interact with parents, school employees, passengers, co-workers & the general public in a courteous, professional manner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for a part-time School Bus Driver position, you MUST:

• Meet the minimum age requirements to hold a school bus driver’s license 

• Be willing & able to successfully complete our training program. While professional experience may be helpful, it is not required, as we provide, professional training.

• Have at least 3 years of driving experience 

• Hold a valid (non-probationary) driver's license for the province in which you are applying.

• Enjoy driving and working with children.

• Possess a very good driving record.

• Communicate clearly in English 

• Undergo & pass a Ministry prescribed Medical examination.

• Undergo a criminal record search, vulnerable sector clearance and other background checks with satisfactory results.

• Not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted. 

• Be safety-minded, courteous, and able to demonstrate an appreciation for the importance of customer service.

• Ideally, have experience working with children & the public.

 

Compensation: Varies depending on experience

Eurythmy Teacher- Elementary School Level

Position Description

FULL TIME

 

 

PURPOSE/SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

 

The Eurythmy teacher is a full time active member of the Faculty who is responsible for teaching the eurythmy portion of the Waldorf curriculum for classes of up to 25 students from kindergarten through grade 8.  The eurythmy teacher will evaluate each child’s progress and report to parents regularly through written reports and interviews.  The eurythmy teacher has a designated number of duties, administrative and other, in addition to their teaching responsibilities.  He/she will attend all faculty meetings and assist with open houses and other school events wherever possible. The eurythmy teacher is expected to support the administration of the school by active committee work in a weekly mandate group.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION: (Abilities, Skills and Behaviors)

 

·         Eurythmy diploma (four year certification)

·         Minimum 1 year Waldorf teaching experience

·         Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with confidence, converting strategies into effective operational activities and achievements.

·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills; approachable for students, parents and colleagues.

·         Willingness and proven ability to work within a community environment.

 

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND SPECIFIC STANDARDS/RESULTS:

 

1.    Curriculum:

·         Responsible for relevant background study to the curriculum being taught in the upcoming school year.

·         Responsible for ensuring that all requirements for the classroom curriculum are met for each grade.  Specifically this includes lesson preparation and instruction.

·         Responsible for finding new and appropriate ways of meeting the curriculum requirements for each specific class.

·         Participate in curriculum and pedagogical review of the program.

 

 

2.    Extra-Curricular:

·         Responsible for planning and delivering all outings and class trips that support the curriculum.

·         Outdoor supervision, recess supervision, lunch duty, and on-call assignments as required.

·         Assist with open houses and other school events wherever possible.

 

 

3.    Student Assessment

·         Evaluate each student’s physical, emotional and social progress on an ongoing basis.

·         Report to parents regularly through written reports and interviews.

·         Where necessary, liaise with colleagues and other professionals to address individual children’s particular needs.

 

 

4.    Parent Communication

·         Attend parent evenings to report on the class and to inform parents of the pedagogical intention of his or her work.

·         Respond to parent questions/concerns in a timely and professional manner.

·         Available for parent interviews as required.

 

 

5.    Professional Development

·         Attend all Thursday faculty meetings as an active participant.

·         Participate in designated weekly mandate group meetings.

 

 

6.    General Administration

·         Writing of reports in a timely and professional manner.

·         Responsible for monitoring class room annual budget.

 

 

HOURS AND COMPENSATION:

 

·         This is a full time position. Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. inclusive.

·         Salary based on experience $22.43 – $32.05 an hour

·         Benefit coverage in accordance with current policy.

Afterschool Teacher

Monday to Friday: 3:30 – 6pm 

The afterschool teachers are responsible for the care, safety and well-being of the children (ranging in age from kindergarten to grade eight) who attend the afterschool program. This involves establishing and maintaining a warm and consistent rhythm, including indoor play, quiet activities, outdoor play and snack. The afterschool teachers are also responsible for completing attendance paperwork, communicating with parents and teachers and closing down the building at the end of the day.
